Kosbaar means "precious" in Afrikaans.
It's a word chosen with intention because Adien Aggenbach, the founder of Kosbaar, believes that good food should nourish both body and soul. And because every living creature deserves to be treated as such.
Kosbaar… because you are, because I am, because they are.
A Founder With Roots in Plant-Based Food
Adien's journey in plant-based food began long before Kosbaar existed. In 2014, she founded Plant one of Cape Town's pioneering plant-based food businesses and spent four years building it into something meaningful before selling in 2018.
But the gap she'd identified in the market never left her mind.
Convenient frozen meals that are genuinely nutritious. Food that tastes amazing without the usual compromise. A product that fits into real, busy lives without asking people to choose between health and flavour.
So she started Kosbaar.
